How to setup Email Forwarding

1. Log in to the Domain Management Tool.

2. Enter your domain name (without the www) and your password. Your password was sent to you in an email when you registered. If you do not have this password, contact us.

3. Scroll down until you reach the “Email Forwarding” section.

  • In the boxes under “Username”, enter the name of the email address you wish to have mail forwarded. This can be any valid name. You may use letters, numbers and characters such as "-", "_", ".", in the name, but spaces or any other characters are not allowed.
  • In the boxes under “Forward To” list the destination email address where you want this email address to forward to. This can be any valid email address.

In the example above, all email sent to john@mydomain.com or support@mydomain.com would be forwarded to john@aol.com. All email sent to support@diskmail.com is forwarded to bill@pacbell.net.

As you can see, you may create multiple email accounts and have them forward to same or different places.

4. Click on the “Modify” button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Setting up a “Catch All” email forward

We provide a "Catch All" feature for your email as a convenient way of "Catching" all email messages sent to any user at your domain name. This is especially useful when someone tries to send you an email but have mistyped your email address (eg. order@mydomain.com instead of orders@yourdomain.com). Normally, this email would be rejected and the sender would receive an error message. If you use the "Catch All" feature, this email would still be received by you. This will allow you to receive emails with any username that do not exist currently, as long as it is sent to your domain

To create the "Catch All" account for your email setup
:

1. In the “email forwarding” section, under “Username” enter and asterisk(*).

2. Under the “Forward To” section enter the email address you would like all email for your domain forwarded to.

3. Click on the “Modify” button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

In the example above, any email that is sent to anyuser at mydomain.com will be redirected to the email address phil@aol.com.

Additional Questions:

  • How do I create more than 5 email forwards if there are only 5 lines?

With our system you can have up to 100 email forwarding accounts!

When you first set up your email forwarding, you will notice there are only 5 empty rows in the Email Forwarding section. This is designed to conserve space. After you have created at least one email forwarding account, click on the Modify button at the bottom of the Domain Manager home page. The system will automatically create additional empty rows for more email accounts. It will always provide 5 empty rows at any one time. If you need to create more than 5 email accounts, just repeat the process when the lines are full.

  • Why is the email forward I created not working?

Although it normally only takes a couple of hours for the forwarding to take effect, it can take up to 24 hours. If it is still not working after a full 24 hours, contact us.
